Introduced Text

New Jersey A1105 requires financial institutions to cash payroll checks under certain conditions.

New Jersey A1105 mandates that financial institutions cash payroll checks for individuals, including minors, who present the check and provide photographic identification. This applies if the individual has an account with the institution or if the check is drawn on that institution. The financial institution cannot charge a fee for this service. The bill also allows individuals to seek reimbursement for attorney's fees if the institution fails to comply. Violating institutions face fines up to $500 per violation, collected by the Commissioner of Banking and Insurance.
