New Jersey A1059 requires electric public utilities to submit electric infrastructure improvement plans to the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) within 120 days of the bill's enactment. These plans aim to reopen electric distribution circuits closed to additional renewable energy installations or restricted to 100 kilowatts or less of remaining capacity. The plans must include provisions for utilizing standard smart inverter technology for solar inverters and energy storage systems on closed circuits, and any other low-cost, actionable alternatives identified by the utilities.
