New Jersey A1038 requires public water systems to notify affected customers and the chief administrators of school districts, charter schools, and nonpublic schools within 24 hours of learning about an emergency or condition necessitating a boil water notice. The bill also mandates that public water systems provide a telephone number for inquiries and include a solicitation for preferred contact methods in water bills. Additionally, public water systems must post boil water notices and their rescissions on their websites and social media accounts.
