New Jersey A1019 limits service fees charged to restaurants by third-party food takeout and delivery applications. It prohibits these services from charging more than 20 percent of the cost of an individual order, or more than 10 percent if the order is delivered by a restaurant employee or independent contractor. The bill allows restaurants to pay up to 25 percent for additional advertising or services. It expires 25 months after enactment, with a report to the Governor and Legislature on its impact. Violations are subject to penalties under the consumer fraud act.
