Increases fines for using a hand-held mobile electronic device while driving in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire SB649 amends RSA 265:79-c, III to increase fines for using a hand-held mobile electronic device while driving. A first offense carries a fine of $250, increasing to $500 if it contributes to a crash. A second offense within 24 months incurs a $500 fine, rising to $750 if it contributes to a crash. A third or subsequent offense within 24 months results in a $750 fine and up to 30 days of license suspension, increasing to $1,000 and suspension if it contributes to a crash. The changes take effect January 1, 2027.
