New Hampshire HB458 restricts local assistance to U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents.

New Hampshire HB458 amends RSA 165:1, I to limit eligibility for local assistance to U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents. The bill specifies that only those who are poor and unable to support themselves qualify for relief and maintenance by the town's overseers of public welfare. The term "residence" retains its existing definition. This act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
