Expands circumstances for using restraint in schools and treatment facilities and modifies the definition of seclusion.
New Hampshire HB1688 modifies the definition of seclusion to include involuntary separation of a child from a stressful environment to regain self-control, if the child can leave and there is no physical barrier. It also allows for involuntary confinement with an adult for therapeutic intervention. The bill permits the use of restraint in schools and treatment facilities to ensure immediate physical safety when there is an imminent risk of bodily harm, removing the requirement for substantial and serious bodily harm. This act takes effect 60 days after its passage.
