Text Text

New Hampshire HB1609 restricts state, county, and municipal funds and property from being used for immigrant detention facilities.

HB1609 prohibits the use of state, county, or municipal funds for constructing, renovating, or repurposing any property for immigrant detention facilities. It also bans the sale or donation of such property to private entities for this purpose. However, it does not affect law enforcement entities or county corrections facilities cooperating with federal immigration authorities under a 287(g) agreement or local governments providing health and safety resources to detained individuals.
