HB1581

Allowing municipalities to adopt a requirement that property owners be given notice when the assessed value of their property changes by certain amounts.

Chamber Passed·3/17/26
Text Text

Allows municipalities to notify property owners of assessment changes exceeding $1,000.

New Hampshire HB1581 allows municipalities to adopt a property value notice option, requiring them to mail a general notice to property owners within 14 days whenever a change in the property’s assessment exceeds $1,000, except during a full municipality-wide revaluation. The notice must include the address, hours of operation, and telephone number of the city or town hall, and information on how to access the assessment online, if supported by the municipality. Adoption of this option requires a majority vote of the legislative body.
