New Hampshire HB1308 amends RSA 265:54 to increase penalties for passing a stopped school bus. For a first offense, the fine increases from $150 to $300, plus a penalty assessment. A second or subsequent offense results in a class A misdemeanor, a fine of at least $750, and a mandatory 15-day jail sentence. The driver's license is revoked indefinitely and cannot be restored for at least one year. The driver may petition for reinstatement after completing a driver safety course. The school bus driver's testimony or camera footage can be used as evidence. The act takes effect January 1, 2027.
