New Hampshire HB1210 amends the state's child support laws to allow a parent ordered to pay child support to claim the federal child tax credit if their annual child support payment exceeds the federal tax credit amount for a dependent child. This applies unless the parents agree otherwise. The paying parent must be current on their support obligations to claim the tax credit. The bill also ensures that in divorce cases, the paying parent retains the right to claim the child tax credit as outlined in the new provisions. This act will take effect on January 1, 2027.
