New Hampshire HB1188 prohibits employers from requiring low-wage employees to sign noncompete agreements.
New Hampshire HB1188 amends RSA 275:70-a to prohibit employers from requiring low-wage employees to enter into noncompete agreements. The bill defines "low-wage qualifying employee" as someone earning an hourly rate less than or equal to 500 percent of the federal minimum wage. Such agreements, which restrict employees from working for another employer for more than 12 months after termination, are declared void and unenforceable. The act will take effect 60 days after its passage.
