Directs BPU to develop program for micro-reactor construction incentives.
Advances the clean energy transition by directing the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to develop a program to solicit bids for the construction of micro-reactors in the state. A micro-reactor is a small modular reactor with a power output of less than 20 megawatts, designed to power individual facilities or provide temporary power to communities during electricity outages. The BPU would issue financial incentives to micro-reactors for each megawatt hour of electric energy produced by the reactor. The amount of the incentive would be determined through a competitive solicitation process.
