Amends FY2027 Appropriations Act to reduce new residency slots in Family and Internal Medicine.
This bill amends the Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations Act to revise the Family and Internal Medicine Residency Expansion Program. Originally, the act appropriated $2 million to support 10 new residency slots in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. The amendment reduces the number of new slots to five, to be allocated equally between Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. The Department of Health, in collaboration with the Department of Human Services, will provide these funds competitively to accredited residency programs that have maximized Medicare and Medicaid funding.
