Introduced Text

Nevada SB399 revises provisions relating to veterans, prohibiting the Director from charging a fee for the interment of a veteran's spouse in a state.

Nevada SB399 amends existing law to ensure that the Director of the Department of Veterans Services cannot charge a fee for the interment of a veteran's spouse in a state veterans' cemetery. The bill also allows eligible veterans, their immediate family members, or recognized veterans' organizations to apply for a plot in a state veterans' cemetery. The Director may charge a fee for the interment of a family member, but it cannot exceed the actual cost of interment. The bill defines "immediate family" as the spouse, minor child, or unmarried adult child of an eligible veteran.
