SB231

Establishes provisions relating to the collection and destruction of unused drugs. (BDR 54-564)

Complete·6/9/25

Establishes requirements for the collection and destruction of unused drugs through secure drug take-back bins.

The bill sets requirements for entities maintaining secure drug take-back bins for the collection and destruction of unused drugs. These entities must comply with state and federal laws, post clear signage, limit access, and regularly inspect the bins. They must also notify local law enforcement of any tampering or theft. The bill exempts compliant entities from certain disciplinary actions and restrictions by local governments. It appropriates $500,000 from the Fund for a Resilient Nevada to assist with the destruction of home-generated pharmaceutical waste.
