Complete·5/31/25

Nevada SB208 revises telephone surcharges for emergency reporting systems and eliminates funding for portable event recording devices.

Nevada SB208 modifies the use of telephone surcharges collected by counties for emergency reporting systems. The bill removes the authorization for counties to impose surcharges for purchasing and maintaining portable event recording devices and vehicular event recording devices. Effective October 1, 2029, counties must find alternative funding sources for these devices. The bill also revises the thresholds for uncommitted balances in special revenue funds created from these surcharges and mandates reductions in the surcharge if these thresholds are exceeded.
