Nevada SB153 revises laws on crimes involving controlled substances, specifically addressing penalties for selling substances that result in death.
Nevada SB153 amends existing law to enhance penalties for selling controlled substances that result in death. Specifically, it classifies the sale of fentanyl or its derivatives that leads to death as first-degree murder, while other controlled substances resulting in death are classified as second-degree murder. The bill also defines "proximately caused" to mean a natural sequence that produced the death and without which the death would not have occurred.
