Nevada AB541 revises provisions relating to indigent petitioners in postconviction proceedings. The bill mandates that costs and expenses for indigent petitioners be paid from appropriations to the Department of Indigent Defense Services. After these appropriations are exhausted, funds must be allocated from the Reserve for Statutory Contingency Account. The bill also sets deadlines for responses to supplemental pleadings and motions to dismiss. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval for administrative tasks and on July 1, 2025, for all other purposes.
