The bill also mandates vehicle impoundment and registration cancellation for unsafe vehicles. Peace officers must inspect impounded vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The Department of Motor Vehicles must rescind and cancel the registration of vehicles if the owner fails to correct violations within 30 days.
