AB197

Nevada AB197 strengthens privacy protections for personal information of donors, members, and volunteers of nonprofit organizations.

Nevada AB197 amends existing law to enhance privacy protections for personal information of donors, members, and volunteers of nonprofit organizations. The bill mandates that governmental entities maintain confidentiality for such personal information, prohibiting its release or disclosure unless specific exceptions apply. These exceptions include situations where disclosure is required by law, necessary for a criminal investigation or prosecution, or for certain personal information. The bill also allows individuals harmed by a violation to bring a civil action for relief.
