AB164

Revises provisions relating to the Account for Student Indemnification. (BDR 34-544)

Complete·5/28/25

Nevada AB164 raises the Account balance for student indemnification above which postsecondary institutions are exempt from paying a fee.

Nevada AB164 amends the Account for Student Indemnification by increasing the balance threshold above which postsecondary educational institutions are exempt from paying a fee. Previously, institutions were exempt if the account balance was $250,000 or more. The new law sets the exemption threshold at $750,000 or more. This change affects all postsecondary institutions licensed in Nevada, which must pay a $5 fee per student enrolled in a program for which a tuition or registration fee is paid. The bill becomes effective on July 1, 2025.
