Complete·6/3/25

Nevada AB128 creates the Office of Public Records Ombudsman to handle disputes over public records.

Nevada AB128 establishes the Office of Public Records Ombudsman as an independent agency within the Executive Department of State Government. The Governor appoints the Ombudsman, who must have experience with state public records laws. The Ombudsman's duties include mediating complaints about public records, investigating such complaints, providing training and education on public records, and creating educational materials. If a person's request for a public record is denied or delayed, or if they believe the fee is excessive, they can file a complaint with the Ombudsman.
