Interim study on restrictive housing and solitary confinement in Nebraska correctional facilities.

This resolution proposes an interim study to examine the use of restrictive housing and solitary confinement in Nebraska's correctional facilities. The study will review current statutes, regulations, and departmental policies, evaluate the frequency and circumstances of vulnerable individuals placed in restrictive housing, assess compliance with prior legislative reforms, and review potential benefits of proposed reforms and best evidence-based practices. The Judiciary Committee will confer with various stakeholders to develop evidence-based policy recommendations.
