Nebraska LR23CA proposes a constitutional amendment to change the deadline for filing initiative petitions. The amendment specifies that for petitions filed before July 7, 2028, the Secretary of State must submit the measure at the next general election if filed before the second Wednesday in July of the calendar year before the election. For petitions filed on or after July 7, 2028, the deadline changes to the next general election only if filed on or before the second Wednesday in July of the calendar year before the election.
