Nebraska LB957 would amend state law to provide a cause of action against parents or guardians who knowingly allow a minor to possess a handgun. The bill would also create an offense for leaving a loaded firearm unsecured where a minor could access it. Under the bill, parents or guardians who knowingly allow a minor to possess a handgun would be strictly liable for any damages resulting from the minor's use or possession of the firearm. The bill defines a minor as a person under the age of 14.
