LB91

Change provisions relating to the conveyance of electric distribution systems by public power districts or public power and irrigation districts to cities or villages

Complete·2/26/25

Nebraska LB91 amends the conveyance process for electric distribution systems from public power districts to cities or villages.

Nebraska LB91 modifies the process for public power districts or public power and irrigation districts to convey electric distribution systems to cities or villages. The bill requires the district to notify the city or village through publication or posting if they wish to acquire the system. If the city or village requests the system, the district must convey it without cost. The city or village must then hold a referendum, and if at least 20% of voters petition against the resolution, it cannot become effective. If no petition is filed, the resolution becomes effective after 30 days.
