LB886

Change provisions relating to operation of motor vehicles by persons who are not citizens of the United States

Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB886 modifies vehicle operation rules for noncitizens, limiting their driving privileges.

Nebraska LB886 amends the Motor Vehicle Operator's License Act to redefine who can operate a motor vehicle in the state. It specifies that noncitizens without lawful status in the U.S. cannot obtain a Nebraska driver's license, permit, or document. Nonresidents can operate vehicles for up to 30 days if they have a valid license from their home state or meet other conditions. Exemptions include active military personnel, full-time students, and temporary agricultural workers. The bill repeals previous sections 60-474 and 60-488, replacing them with these new provisions.
