LB878

Require paid parental leave for state employees

Complete·4/10/26

Nebraska LB878 mandates paid maternity leave for state employees who give birth or adopt a child.

Nebraska LB878 establishes a policy for paid maternity leave for state employees who give birth or adopt a child. Eligible employees can use up to six weeks of paid leave within a twelve-month period. Employees must notify the state at least 30 days before using leave, unless circumstances beyond their control prevent it. The leave cannot be used before the child's birth or adoption and must be continuous unless medically necessary or agreed upon by both parties. The leave does not count against other leave balances and employees retain their benefits during the leave.
