LB742

Provide requirements relating to the participation of seventh and eighth grade students in high school sports

Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB742 would allow seventh and eighth graders to participate in high school sports with certain conditions.

Nebraska LB742 would require school boards and governing authorities of private, denominational, or parochial high schools to develop policies allowing seventh and eighth grade students to participate in high school sports. Conditions include appropriate skill level, a health evaluation, parental consent, and compliance with athletic associations and state regulations. Students who meet these criteria would not be eligible to compete at the seventh or eighth grade level once they participate at the high school level. The State Board of Education may adopt rules to implement these provisions.
