Nebraska LB73 changes the annual continuing education hours required for law enforcement officers.

Nebraska LB73 amends the annual continuing education requirements for law enforcement officers. Officers must complete a minimum of 20 hours annually, increasing to 28 hours starting January 1, 2022, and 32 hours starting January 1, 2023. Officers in counties with populations under 40,000 must complete 20 hours annually. Courses include de-escalation, mental health, substance abuse, anti-bias, firearms, and other training as determined by the agency. Courses can be offered in seminars, advanced education, conferences, or online.
