Nebraska LB660 adopts the Secure Drone Purchasing Act to limit drone purchases that pose security risks.

Nebraska LB660 adopts the Secure Drone Purchasing Act, which aims to protect the state from espionage, surveillance, and theft of intellectual property by prohibiting the purchase of drones that are not on a List of Secure Drones Authorized for Purchase. The Division of Aeronautics of the Department of Transportation will create and maintain this list, which includes drones cleared by the U.S. Department of Defense and compliant with federal law. Effective January 1, 2027, no state funds can be used to purchase non-compliant drones, and such contracts are void and unenforceable.
