Nebraska LB65 would exempt individuals under nineteen from certain court costs and fees and change provisions of the Nebraska Juvenile Code.

Nebraska LB65 would exempt individuals under nineteen from payment of certain court costs and fees, including DNA collection and testing costs. It would also prohibit the recovery of costs and fees in proceedings under the Nebraska Juvenile Code from juveniles or their parents or guardians. The bill would also change provisions of the Nebraska Juvenile Code, including those relating to juvenile pretrial diversion programs, appointed counsel, guardians ad litem, and recoupment of certain costs. It would also prohibit imposition of a fine as a penalty in a juvenile proceeding.
