Provide an exemption from brand inspections and change fees under the Livestock Brand Act

Failed·4/17/26

Nebraska LB646 would exempt certain feedlots from brand inspections and fees.

Nebraska LB646 amends the Livestock Brand Act to exempt certain feedlots from brand inspections and fees. Registered feedlots have 120 days to submit an exemption form to the brand committee. The committee must respond within 15 days. Operators of cattle feeding operations not designated as exempt feedlots can apply for exemption, subject to conditions such as permanent fencing and separated ownership of cattle. The committee must investigate applications within 30 days. Exempt feedlots are exempt from brand inspections, audits, and fees for cattle entering or leaving for direct slaughter.
