LB604

Nebraska LB604 modifies initiative and referendum petition processes, including petition form review and legal challenges.

Nebraska LB604 amends the initiative and referendum petition process. It requires the Secretary of State to review petition forms and provide feedback to sponsors before circulation. The bill mandates that any legal challenges to petition sufficiency must be filed within specific timeframes, with certain exceptions. It also stipulates that the district court of Lancaster County has jurisdiction over such litigation, unless the challenge pertains to signature sufficiency, in which case the Supreme Court may hear the case.
