LB544

Disqualify certain individuals from receiving benefits under the Employment Security Law

Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB544 would disqualify individuals from receiving unemployment benefits if they fail to respond to job offers or miss scheduled interviews.

Nebraska LB544 amends the Employment Security Law to disqualify individuals from receiving unemployment benefits for any week in which they fail to respond to a job offer within two business days or miss a scheduled job interview without notifying the prospective employer. The bill also mandates the establishment of a portal, email address, and telephone hotline for employers to report such instances. Before denying benefits, the department must verify the employer's report. The original section 48-601 is repealed and replaced with the new provisions.
