Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB49 establishes a model policy for school districts to ban individuals from school property, activities, or communication with officials.

Nebraska LB49 amends school district powers to include a ban and bar action, prohibiting individuals from school property, activities, or communication with officials. The ban and bar action can only be used for immediate threats and must not exceed one year unless required by court order. The State Board of Education must develop a model policy by January 1, 2026, which districts must adopt by July 1, 2026. Individuals subject to a ban and bar action can request a hearing before the school board to contest it.
