LB274

Change requirements under the Child Care Licensing Act for liability insurance coverage and inspections and investigations

Failed·6/2/25
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB274 amends child care licensing requirements, including liability insurance and inspections.

Nebraska LB274 modifies the Child Care Licensing Act by changing liability insurance requirements and inspection protocols. Applicants for a child care license must provide proof of liability insurance coverage for the hours they operate. Failure to maintain the required insurance coverage results in noncompliance with the Act. The bill also mandates that child care staff members undergo national criminal history record information checks and fingerprinting every five years. Inspections of child care programs are to be unannounced, except for initial licensure and consultation visits.
