Nebraska LB271 would establish a penalty for knowingly interfering with railroad infrastructure, equipment, and personnel.
Nebraska LB271 would amend the state's criminal code to prohibit interference with rail infrastructure, equipment, and personnel. This includes placing obstructions on tracks, tampering with signaling systems, or assaulting rail personnel. The bill defines "interfere" as tampering, displacing, damaging, or destroying rail-related property. A violation would be classified as a Class IIIA felony. The bill also repeals the original section 28-101 of the Revised Statutes Cumulative Supplement, 2024.
