Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Nebraska LB225 modifies the application process for duplicate certificates of title for lost or damaged vehicle titles.

Nebraska LB225 amends the Motor Vehicle Certificate of Title Act to change how duplicate certificates of title are applied for. The bill allows applicants to submit any evidence they have if they cannot produce 15 proofs of ownership. The county treasurer, with the department's approval, can issue a duplicate certificate if the evidence is deemed sufficient. This duplicate certificate will only show unreleased liens of record. The new purchaser will receive an original certificate upon presentation of the duplicate certificate.
