LB17

Nebraska LB17 restricts landlords from charging certain fees and mandates disclosures to prospective tenants.

Nebraska LB17 amends the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act to prohibit landlords from charging fees to prospective tenants under specific conditions. Landlords may only charge for rent, security deposits, returned payment fees, and late fees. They must provide written notices and disclosures, including the total cost of rent and itemization of fees. Landlords must also provide a copy of any consumer report obtained and notify prospective tenants of their rights. Violations are subject to civil penalties under the Consumer Protection Act.
