Nebraska LB1258 renames the Livestock Brand Act as the Livestock Protection Act and transfers duties from the Nebraska Brand Committee to the Department of Agriculture. It establishes the Division of Brand Registration, Brand Inspection, and Livestock Theft Investigation within the Department of Agriculture. The bill also changes provisions relating to livestock branding, brand inspections, fees, and electronic identification methods. It eliminates the Nebraska Brand Committee and repeals certain sections of the Livestock Brand Act. The changes take effect on January 1, 2027.
