Establishes child support obligations for an unborn child in Nebraska.
Nebraska LB1242 amends state statutes to establish and enforce child support obligations for an unborn child. The Department of Health and Human Services will determine and enforce support orders for the biological father of an unborn child and after birth to the child's mother. Support obligations can begin from the first month of conception if the mother requests. The bill also allows for retroactive collection of support and permits the establishment of paternity without the mother's consent, except when it poses a risk to the unborn child.
