Nebraska LB1171 amends the Political Subdivisions Tort Claims Act to allow property owners to file claims for damages if their private residences or buildings are damaged due to sewer system backups caused by the negligence of political subdivision employees or contractors. The governing body of the political subdivision must pay the claim within ninety days if the amount of damages is known and not in dispute. The bill also repeals the original section 13-901 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska.
