Adopt the Prior Learning Act

Failed·4/17/26
Introduced Text

Adopts the Prior Learning Act to allow Nebraska public postsecondary institutions to award academic credit based on prior learning examinations.

The Prior Learning Act allows Nebraska public postsecondary institutions to award academic credit based on prior learning examinations. The Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education will set cut scores for these examinations, which students must meet or exceed to receive credit. Institutions may require a higher minimum score if justified by student performance or course success rates. Institutions must develop policies and procedures for awarding credit, prioritize credit application towards general education, and report annually to the commission.
