LB1118

Classifies certain actions by social media platforms as deceptive trade practices under Nebraska law.

Nebraska LB1118 amends the Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act to classify specific actions by social media platforms as deceptive trade practices. These include failing to remove fraudulent advertisements, ignoring credible reports of such content, and not notifying law enforcement of report status. The bill also mandates identity verification for advertisers, automated and manual fraud detection systems, and measures to prevent repeated offenses. It does not require proof of competition between parties to prevail in a deceptive trade practices action.
