Nebraska LB108 changes the contribution rates for firefighters' retirement systems in cities of the first class. Firefighters will contribute six and one-half percent of their salary until September 30, 2024, and then incrementally increase to twelve and seven-tenths percent by September 30, 2026. Cities will contribute thirteen percent of each firefighter's salary until September 30, 2025, then increase to fifteen percent by September 30, 2026. The bill also allows cities to contribute to firefighters' accounts before retirement or termination of employment.
