Nebraska LB1066 mandates that each member of the Legislature complete a civics assessment within 90 days of taking office. The assessment includes 20 randomly selected questions from the civics portion of the United States Naturalization Test or an equivalent test. The Clerk of the Legislature administers the assessment, calculates the score, and publishes it on the official website and in the member's public biography. Completion of the assessment is mandatory, but passing is not required. Members who do not achieve a passing score are invited to attend a voluntary civic literacy seminar.
