SB91

Montana SB91 requires driver's licenses and identification cards to display citizenship status starting January 1, 2026.

Montana SB91 amends state law to require driver's licenses and identification cards issued on or after January 1, 2026, to display an image of an eagle for U.S. citizens and verify lawful presence for non-citizens. The bill specifies that U.S. citizens must have an eagle image on their licenses, while non-citizens must be verified through the federal systematic alien verification for entitlements program. The bill also includes provisions for license renewals, fees, and the use of social security numbers.
