Montana SB525 authorizes school districts and public charter schools to adopt policies for paid or volunteer school chaplains to provide student support. Schools must list chaplains and their religious affiliations on their websites. Chaplains must meet background check and age requirements. Schools can use chaplains instead of counselors, and chaplains must be certified by the superintendent. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.
